AVITA Acquires 100% Ownership of A-Lab, a Developer of Domestic Humanoid Robots

AVITA Inc. (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroshi Ishiguro; hereinafter "AVITA") announces that it has acquired all shares of A-Lab Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Takeshi Mita; hereinafter "A-Lab"), a company engaged in the development of android robots.

Background and Purpose

AVITA has previously focused on the development and provision of dialogue and customer service solutions centered on CG avatars. To deliver services with greater added value and diversity, AVITA is now expanding its business into the humanoid and Physical AI domains.

A-Lab is a pioneering company that provides end-to-end services spanning the development and production of humanoids—including lifelike androids that closely resemble well-known individuals—through to their implementation and operational support. The company has built a strong track record of projects for numerous corporations and international events. In recent years, A-Lab has also been actively engaged in expanding the possibilities of android technologies, including research and development of “Android Avatars” as a new type of communication device.

By combining A-Lab’s robotics technologies and expertise with AVITA’s avatar and AI technologies, we will continue creating new customer experiences and value. AVITA has already begun collaborations with major domestic companies and top-tier global humanoid development firms, and will further promote business partnerships in the Physical AI field with a wide range of companies going forward.

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, AVITA will host “AVITA Physical AI NIGHT 2026,” an evening dedicated to exploring the forefront of Physical AI development, including humanoids and androids.

The event will center on a keynote by AVITA CEO Hiroshi Ishiguro, with discussions and insights shared on the current state and future outlook of humanoid and Physical AI development.

Researchers and engineers involved in R&D, as well as those interested in the social implementation of robotics and AI, are warmly invited to attend.

A networking session will be held following the seminar.
